Meeting of the Wives of Fallen Servicemen with Veterans

On October 28th, the «Pislya Sluzhby» (After Service) Foundation organized a dinner for the widows of fallen servicemen and veterans.

It was a very heartwarming meeting, full of support and hugs!

The wives of the fallen heroes shared that they lack communication with the military and the comrades of their fallen husbands. They also voiced their dreams - to publish a collection of poems and a photo album for the «Alive. True love stories» project.

Perhaps, any words are unnecessary, so we just want to quote the widow of a serviceman, Yulia:

«Despite the fact that we lost our husbands, we all really want all Ukrainian soldiers to return home alive. I see that it is still difficult for the comrades of my husband to communicate with me, probably due to a sense of guilt for not saving my husband, for not protecting him. But I don't want any of them or you to feel guilty about it, because I am confident that each of you, if you could, would do everything possible for my husband and all the other fallen warriors to be back home to their families.

We are waiting for all of you! We want to support you! We want you to know this and not be afraid to communicate with us, because we feel scared as well. Sometimes we don't know how to find the right words for you to feel our support and at the same time don’t think that you are being pitied.

It is extremely important for me to help every soldier!»

Despite the joy of communication, there were, of course, tears, but the women found the strength to support each other. Veterans shared their experiences and successes, talked about what they are doing now, after their service.

This meeting turned out to be unexpectedly long - it lasted six hours, which proves its relevance and necessity.
