"If we do not care about Ukrainian veterans, Ukraine can win the war, but lose peace", - Edward Marshall, the founder of the Foundation "After Service".
On February 16, was the presentation of "The heart of Azovstal" - the subject is to support of defenders of Mariupol and families of the deceased, the prisoners and the missing persons.
Edward Marshall was invited to the presentation of our colleagues to share the experience of military assistance in the USA.
Edward Marshall is the founder og the "After Service" Foundation, a U.S. citizen of Ukrainian origin. Former state official and member of the Advisory Council of the America's Warrior Partnership. He worked in the U.S. government and for many years, supported veteran organizations of the USA, and now Ukraine.
From the presentation of the project, Edward Marshall: "It seems to me that everyone heard, all our speakers today spoke about the importance of drawing attention to the families of servicemen and integrating military officers into the community. It should be considered that it is impossible to think about any one solution that will be applied to all military personnel. We should take into account everything, not separate health, community and family, not separate education. But consider this question in general and ask ourselves: Why do we do it? To prevent suicide, to help reintegrate into the community, it is also important to pay attention to case management, that is, to conduct the case of every soldier and his family."
The “Heart of Azovstal” project is open to cooperation with Ukrainian and international organizations that are already providing military support.
Ksenia Sukhova, the head of the “Heart of Azovstal” NGO: “Our goal is to become a center of care and long-term comprehensive assistance for the defenders of Mariupol and families of the dead, the prisoners and the missed. The project is intended to ensure the preservation of memory of the soldiers feat among the citizens of Ukraine and the whole world”. Kseniya Sukhova promised to cooperate closely with the defenders, to involve the world experience of military support after service, to cooperate with the leading Ukrainian experts in each program area.
