Meeting within the «Trust After Betrayal» Project

Daryna Sudachek met with veteran Maksym Hurtovyi, a friend of our Foundation, in the office of «Pislya Sluzhby» (After Service).

Daryna is originally from Kharkiv, but currently studying at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and is a Military and International Affairs Researcher. She works in the international organization «Trust After Betrayal», which deals with issues of reintegration of people who were participants in wars and armed conflicts.

One of the «Trust After Betrayal» projects, which was recently visited by the director of the Foundation, Halyna Morar, in London, «Out of War» is dedicated to Ukraine and the reintegration of servicemen of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

As part of this project, Daryna came to Ukraine to conduct a series of interviews with veterans and military personnel, collecting first-hand information about the expectations and realities that people face and will face after returning from service to civilian life.

The results of the interviews will be used for further research and assistance in advocating the interests of servicemen.

The interview method, that Daryna conducted with Maksym, is called «Life History Interview» – it is an autobiographical narrative lasting 2 hours. The questions focused on Maksym's military experience and the path of his return to civilian life.
