Oleksiy is an active-duty military man. Currently restricted for service. He comes from a Moldovan-speaking village on the border of Ukraine. He has a daughter.
At the age of 20, he signed a contract and joined the military service. He says «I always knew I would be at war, I knew it since my childhood».
Before the full-scale invasion he worked in the border service. After that, he fought in Bakhmut and near Klishchiivka, where he was seriously injured. Fortunately, during the injury, his spinal cord remained undamaged, and on the third day in the hospital, Oleksiy began to feel his left arm.
He recalls «When I stood up for the first time after 1.5 months of lying in bed, I felt such joy! I realized that I would start running soon! Although, of course, it was difficult...»
Case manager of «Pislya Sluzhby» (After Service) Anna has been supporting Oleksiy from the first days after the injury. The military man underwent the state treatment program, after which, on the advice of our Foundation, he went through rehabilitation in Odesa at the center of Vasyl Rybak.
Now he has returned to military service.
In the future, Oleksiy dreams of joining The Federation of Strongmen of Ukraine.
Oleksiy's inner strength and his zest for life are truly impressive! He says «I know my body will recover. It just takes time and my effort. And if I stop, there will be no future and perspective for me. Yes, sometimes my legs don't hold me and I fall. But I get up and keep going. I am essentially starting my life from scratch».
We all believe in you, Warrior! Thank you for your service!
