Our veteran Oleg is 47 years old. He is a former warehouse manager, who joined the Armed Forces in March, 2022.
Oleg was injured in June 2023 during a counteroffensive in the Vuhledar area of the Donetsk region. He suffered a severe spinal cord injury and required expensive rehabilitation at a private clinic.
His family was able to pay for the first month of rehabilitation clinic. However, the cost of further rehabilitation became unaffordable. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Oleg's wife, Anastasia, reached out to the «Pislya Sluzhby» (After Service) Foundation requesting assistance in paying for her husband's treatment at the Adonis Rehabilitation Center.
The required amount of money was substantial, we needed help and turned to our partners from the Northern Lights NGO for help. Thanks to their generosity, we were able to finance three months of Oleg's treatment. And some incredible changes have begun to happen!
Now Oleg can stand upright for 1.5 hours without a break, his hand strength has improved (there was in muscle atrophy in his arms) and there is some motor activity in his fingers. With the help of rehabilitation specialists Oleg is learning to how to move himself to a wheelchair independently and is even practicing walking movements.
Oleg still requires continued treatment and rehabilitation.
