Previously, Yuri walked hunched over with a cane, but now we joyfully welcome Yuri, who stands tall on his own two feet. Look at his sincere smile, free from pain.
The veteran visited the Pislya Sluzhby office to express gratitude for the assistance. "I had pain in my back, radiating down to my leg. I used to walk hunched over. After the surgery and the titanium plate placement, it's much better. Of course, there are still nuances, but it's not like it used to be."
Yuri M., a 43-year-old veteran and father of two, was injured in the arm during combat operations near Bakhmut. It was only during hospitalization that a hernia in his back was discovered. The problem could only be solved through surgery and the installation of a titanium plate — a costly and serious surgical operation that could return the man to normal life.
Yuri tried to find ways to address this need independently, but fatigue and the echoes of his experiences took their toll. There was no money or opportunities, only a passionate desire to be healthy and strong again.
The veteran turned to the Pislya Sluzhby Foundation for help, and in turn, we reached out to our partner Vadym Pasichnyuk, who directed us to specialized experts. We found doctors who agreed to perform the operation for our veteran as part of a pilot project.
Now we are confident that we have done everything possible, and Yuri will be able to overcome his back problems and find the strength to start a life after service because his adult daughter and ten-year-old son are waiting for him at home.
Yuri M.: "Thank you for such warm support! Thank you for being there!"
