UVF has presented the first comprehensive study of the needs of veterans and active military personnel in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, affiliated with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, recently published the results of its study titled "Veterans' Needs." This is the first comprehensive study conducted in Ukraine since 2014, analyzing the needs and demands of veterans and active military personnel.

The objective of the study is to serve as a practical guide for the government, ministries, local authorities, social services, foundations, and civil society organizations working with veterans. The Foundation's analysts examined the experiences of other countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Croatia, while also considering the current needs of veterans, their attitudes towards benefits and services, and the obstacles they face in accessing them.

According to the research findings, approximately 45.4% of the surveyed veterans believe that the state 'mostly fails' to fulfill its obligations towards them. In comparison, 22.1% of respondents believe the state 'mostly fulfills' its obligations. Veterans express a need for improved healthcare (53.8%), support in housing acquisition (34.7%), financial assistance (31.1%), improved housing conditions (24.9%), and access to education (24.4%). Other needs include assistance with employment (20.4%), psychological support (20%), entrepreneurial investments (20%), obtaining land privileges (16.4%), and assistance with legal matters (15.8%).

The study also highlights the need to improve veterans' access to medical services, social programs, and professional rehabilitation. The research findings provide valuable information for developing policies and programs aimed at meeting the needs of veterans in Ukraine. Based on these findings, an implementation plan can be created, outlining specific measures and recommendations to improve the situation of veterans and active military personnel.

The government, ministries, local authorities, foundations, and civil society organizations must work together to respond effectively to the needs of veterans and provide them with proper support and assistance. This will help enhance the quality of life for veterans and recognize their significant role in defending the country.

For more detailed information, the full text of the study is available on the website of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation.
