Psychological rehabilitation

The «Pislya Sluzhby» (After Service) Foundation is looking for the best specialists in psychology and psychiatry to work with the psychological trauma of our veterans and their family members. Our goal is to successfully reintegrate veterans into civilian life through psychological rehabilitation, which allows them to master their emotions and work with trauma, stress and PTSD. We also conduct lectures, trainings and workshops for veterans and their families, where we discuss important topics such as environmental communication, effective methods of dealing with stress, how to properly support relatives who have returned from war, etc.

Psychological training “Circle of Candor”

On October 11, we held a Circle of Candor training with psychologist Olena Katerynych to discuss stress and its impact on our quality of life and health. Olena shared tips on how to recognize stress and deal with it effectively.

We also created drawings: a barrel with droplets of resourceful actions for difficult times and holes with actions that take away energy. One glance at the picture allows you to quickly choose a way to recover, which is difficult for the brain to do in a stressful situation when there are no aids.

The atmosphere was warm and light, allowing everyone to feel like they were in a circle of like-minded people.

Thank you all for your participation!

The lecture "After the Battle"

"Turn the struggle of your past into the strength of your future" - the words from the video that opened the lecture "After the Battle".

Turning traumatic experience into a source of strength was the central theme of the event. The lecture was dedicated to the psychological adaptation of veterans, their thinking, communication and emotional state after returning from combat.

We express our gratitude to Maria Belova, a psychologist with 15 years of experience, who spoke easily and interestingly about the mechanisms of adaptation, the rules of communication with the military and the importance of support from family and society.

We sincerely thank everyone who joined the lecture! Your participation is important for supporting veterans on their way to recovery and adaptation.

Support Groups for Families Waiting for Their Heroes from the War

The anticipation of a loved one, brother, husband, or son returning from war can be a challenging phase in a family's life. Stress, uncertainty, fear, and safety concerns all contribute to the psychological burden that affects the family. The "Pislya Sluzhby" Foundation has launched support groups for families waiting for their heroes to return from war, aiming to help them navigate through this difficult stage.

These support groups provide assistance to women, mothers, and daughters who are awaiting the return of their loved ones. In addition, the support groups allow people to communicate with those who understand their experiences and have been through the same journey.

Women who have come together under the "Pislya Sluzhby" Foundation not only cheer for their own loved ones but also for every comrade who has become a part of their family. This helps them find support and strength to endure this challenging phase and live fulfilling lives.

Playback Theatre Performance

What is playback theatre, and how does it help process traumatic experiences? During the playback theatre performance at our "Pislya Sluzhby" Foundation office on April 23, 2023, our guests had the opportunity to share their feelings and stories about their service in the conflict zone. The actors, in turn, portrayed these stories in their interpretation, helping the audience understand and experience the emotions associated with their service.

How does it work? Playback theatre is a theatrical technique where actors create a live improvised performance based on stories the audience shares. This approach to theatre was developed in 1975 and is considered a form of cooperative theatre. The performance is created on the spot: audience members are invited to share stories from their lives, and the actors listen and reenact them on stage using various techniques such as mime, gestures, music, and dance. They may also ask questions to understand the story better or offer their interpretations.

Playback theatre can be used for various purposes, such as creating a forum for dialogue and collaboration, promoting communication, and fostering creativity. In playback theatre, there is no script or pre-planned actions. Instead, everything that happens on stage results from a creative process involving the audience, actors, and directors. This makes playback theatre a unique experience for all participants in the performance.

In the video, you can see one of the sketches performed by actors from Deja Vu Plus Theatre. Iryna and Oleksiy visited us to watch the performance and get acquainted with our Foundation. They shared their thoughts with the artistic director of the theatre, Volodymyr Savinov, expressing their interest in getting to know "Pislya Sluzhby" and their curiosity about the event format (theatre) and how the actors brought it to life - watch the video to see the results.

Playback Theatre is more than just a theatre. In collaboration with "Pislya Sluzhby," actors utilize theatrical techniques to help war participants and their families overcome trauma and other feelings associated with serving in the conflict zone. It is an excellent tool for participants to share their emotions and gain a new perspective on various situations.

Thus, theatre becomes a powerful instrument for supporting veterans and facilitating their reintegration into civilian life. The next performance is scheduled for May 28 (Sunday) from 15:00 to 17:00 at the "Pislya Sluzhby" office located at 25/49a Pochayninska Street, Kyiv (entrance through the courtyard).

KinoCoaching session "Transforming the fight with the past into the power of the future"

KinoCoaching includes watching educational video materials about accepting and working with post-traumatic stress disorder disorder (PTSD) together with a psychologist - curator of the group. Session participants will receive methods and tools for working with PTSD and cPTSD in military personnel.

We invite military personnel, veterans, psychologists and volunteers to discuss such video materials in order to obtain a theoretical basis for further work with people with similar injuries. In the future, it is also planned conducting film coaching sessions in online format for convenience and accessibility for the general public of participants.

Participants learn:

  • understand the 4 rules of communication with veterans
  • use therapeutic means of working with PTSD and cPTSD
  • define 6 "rules of battle" with which the veteran returns home
  • to master questions of 5 topics, on which should be discussed with veterans

The session is oriented on:

  • veterans and their family members
  • specialists that work with PTSD and cPTSD

Learning is happening by analyzing the situations and cases presented in video materials In April, 04/15/2023, the next one was considered material:
